Meet the Team
Anna Huang (Co-founder)
Hello! My name is Anna, and I am one of the co-founders of Mott Street Girls. As a Boston native, I was a former Chinatown tour guide in my hometown. I have also been practicing Chinese dance for two decades. My desire to understand my culture and identity brought me to volunteer at a local Chinatown history museum in NYC. This experience made me realize the importance of history and how the past has shaped (and continues to shape) the Chinatown community today.
Rebecca Shi
Hi, I’m Rebecca! I’m Chinese American, born and raised in NYC. Currently, I work as a software engineer at a bank. In my free time, I love biking around the city, playing board games, and planning my next trip. If anyone has any travel or book recommendations, let me know! Before meeting Chloe, I usually went to Chinatown to grab food, but through her and MSG, I’ve been introduced to a close-knit and vibrant community. I’ve seen MSG grow from its first tour with just a few people during COVID, and I’m so excited to be a part of their journey officially!
Chloe Chan (Co-founder)
Hi, I’m Chloe! I grew up in both Hong Kong and New Jersey. As a bicultural kid, I spent every weekend in Chinatown getting groceries with my parents, taking piano lessons, and eating at all the restaurants on Mott Street. After college, I volunteered as a tour guide at a local Chinatown history museum to stay connected to my culture and heritage. This experience led me to cofound Mott Street Girls during the COVID-19 pandemic to amplify AAPI voices and help struggling small businesses in the community.
Christina Chann
Hi there, my name is Christina and I am thrilled to be joining the Mott Street Girls! When I am not busy planning my next camping trip, you can usually find me baking, reading, crafting, or playing board games. Upon moving to NYC eight years ago, I was excited to explore Chinatown, which housed my family and their businesses (my Gung Gung’s travel agency was at 11 Mott Street) for many generations. As a young girl, I remember climbing the rickety and narrow stairs to my great-grandfather’s fifth-floor Madison Street apartment, celebrating Lunar New Year at Confucius Plaza, and eating dim sum at Hop Shing. I am excited to be a part of MSG where I hope to share the rich history of the neighborhood, amplify the voices and stories of small businesses and people who built it, and continue to strengthen the AAPI community.
Hi, I’m Caroline! I’m Vietnamese-Filipino American and from the metropolitan DC area. I’ve lived in NYC for the past few years and recently completed my Doctorate in Optometry. One of my favorite NYC activities is nights out in Chinatown, jumping from dinner to dessert to drinks and taking in the beautiful lanterns and warm atmosphere! I play tennis, do yoga, binge television (and episode recaps), and love trying out new restaurants with my friends & family. I’m excited to be a part of the MSG team and help spread the joy of the Chinatown community!
