Muoi Truong’s Sidewalk Fruit Stand
For over 20 years, Muoi Truong’s colorful fruit stand has consistently offered the most incredible selection of tropical and seasonal fruits. Through her hard work, she’s achieved the American dream and even sent her two eldest children to Columbia University and the University of Richmond.
Running a fruit stand is truly a family affair. Every day, rain or shine, Mrs. Truong faithfully sets up her elaborate fruit stand at 6 am. From 9 am to 9 pm, she works tirelessly alongside her husband, selling fresh fruits to locals and visitors alike. Her sister and brother operate a similar fruit stand around the corner on Canal.
Over the years, her 12 hour days standing on hard concrete has taken a toll on her body, like her bowed legs and the persistent pain in her knees. Make sure to visit Mrs. Truong’s fruit stand and other street vendors like her when you’re in Chinatown! From the bitter winters to the scorching summers, they are always there for us, providing essential goods and services at low prices.
Thank you, Mrs. Truong!
